ER-applications aside the classical field of engineering, for example ER-keyboards or haptic joysticks are presently being evaluated. The spectrum of "Fascination Electrorheology" goes however well beyond Fludicon's present focal activities.

Fluid Digital Control - A new era in hydraulic technologies.

Fludicon was founded in 2001 as a spin-off from the Schenck AG (Dürr Group) in Darmstadt, Germany. The ERF competence centre received a first financing round in 2004 from the Ludwigsburger Technostart organisation. A second round of financing under the leadership of Munich Venture Partners took place in 2007, with Schneider Electronic Ventures (F), Frauenhofer-Gesellschaft (Munich Opens external link in new windowwww.venture.fraunhofer.de) and the KfW Bank participating as co-investors.

The funds provided, approximately 5 Mio Euro, will be used to aid the growth of the company and consolidate market penetration of the Fludicon's ER-technology.

Fludicon is presently serving the following markets:

  • Fitness and rehabilitation
    with ER-resistance systems
  • Standard dampers
    with the RheDamp® family
  • Automotive industry
    with shock absorbers for seating and suspension systems
  • Engineering design and prototype production

As European and most likely worldwide technological leader for ERF, Fludicon is involved in a broad spectrum of development activities, e.g. for all forms of continuously variable damping and control.

Fludicon holds 110 property rights on the topics of ERF and is active in numerous co-operations with universities and Frauenhofer institutes (e.g. LBF Darmstadt and ISC Würzburg).
